To answer this we need to look at a few verses in the bible. John 2:16 speaks of  “My Father’s house” as the physical temple in Jerusalem where the Jews went to worship God. John 14:2 references the “Father’s house” in chapter 2:16 which says: “In My Father’s house are many abodes; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.” The “My Father’s house” here is often thought to be referring to heaven because this is where God abides; this is not wrong.

However, God does not only live there, He also lives inside the believers in Christ. This is because 1 Corinthians 3:16 says: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” The “My Father’s house” in John 14:2 is actually referring to us as the dwelling place of God. Today God lives inside us. In one sense, if you want to find God, you need to find the believers in Christ.
