Coming to Christ for Life in the Bible – John 5:39-40
“You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that testify concerning Me. Yet you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” ~John 5:39-40<
We’ve all heard that we should read the Bible, but when we come to the Word we need to come to Christ. As we read the Bible we should be seeking Christ and Christ alone. As we do this, we receive life.

The Word Is Alive & Active – Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is living and operative and sharper than any two-edged word, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” ~Hebrews 4:12
Scott goes into a small but very significant aspect of this verse by showing us the Bible is the only book on earth that is a living organism and is able to connect the depths of our heart with the unsearchable depths of His.

Coming To The Scriptures With Our Spirit – 2 Timothy 3:16
The way God carries out His purpose is seen in 2 Timothy 3:16 which says that “all scripture is God-breathed.” This indicates that the essence of the Holy scriptures is God’s breath.
When we come to the Bible with our human spirit by praying over the Word and not just by using our mind to try to understand it, we begin to strike the Spirit in the Word with our spirit. In this way God imparts to us what He is as the Spirit by us receiving Him in the Word. This is so satisfying to us and also to Him because it gives Him a way to carry out His purpose through imparting Himself into us.

“Gold” in the Genealogy of Jesus Christ – Matthew 1:1
“The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham”
C.H. Spurgeon said there is spiritual “gold” to be found in every verse of the Bible. From Matt. 1:1 we see that Christ is the real Solomon who builds the church, and the real Isaac who was willing to be sacrificed on the cross.
